Quick Tips for Better Coffee

One of the things I love about food and drink is not only the science of it, but the artisanship behind it. I’d like to share some easy secrets to having great coffee.

A lot of the taste in coffee is controlled by the C02 contained within the bean. When you grind a coffee bean the CO2 escapes in about 60 seconds.

So instead of having your coffee ground, go buy a grinder, have hot water ready, grind your beans, and then do a pour over or a french press in that 60 second window.

Make sure your beans are freshly roasted. Give them about 4 or 5 days to release some gas, don’t use them past 3 weeks.
